“ Experience, compassion, and the highest standards of care are the foundations on which Berkshire Menopause Clinic is built. We know that every woman’s experience of hormonal changes is different, and that’s why we schedule appointments with the same specialist, take the time to listen, and tailor treatment plans to meet your individual needs.”
Dr Shilpa McQuillan, Clinic Founder
Berkshire Menopause Clinic is founded by accredited menopause specialist, community gynaecologist, and women’s health GP, Dr Shilpa McQuillan to provide women across Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire with specialist, accessible women's health, menopause, and gynaecology care. The CQC registered private clinic in Henley-on-Thames provides a calm space, where every individual is listened to, their symptoms understood.
As every woman’s experience of hormonal changes is different, evidence-based treatment plans are tailored to meet your individual needs. Our approach is holistic, and includes lifestyle, exercise, and nutrition advice, non-hormonal medicines, and hormone replacement therapy.
We are a ‘one-stop’ clinic, where all women's health needs can be met in the same place. Services include menopause and gynaecology consultations, cervical screening and breast checks, prescriptions, blood tests, and a full range of contraceptive services including implant and coil fittings.
Women's health is all we do. We are highly trained, incredibly experienced, and absolutely passionate about our speciality.
We understand that now, more than ever, there’s a world of information – and misinformation - out there when it comes to women's health. And that this leaves many women not knowing which way to turn. We stand for clarity; empowering women with knowledge so that they can make informed choices about their health.
Every woman is unique, their experience different. That’s why we take the time to listen to our patients and understand their concerns. It is only by doing this that we can provide personalised evidence-based treatment plans and advice.
We provide advice and treatment to women with complex medical backgrounds and those who have a personal history or high risk of cancer. As a community gynaecologist, Dr McQuillan manages complex procedures, treating women who have experienced difficult or unsuccessful coil insertions or cervical screenings.
Regulated by the Care Quality Commission, we only prescribe medicines regulated and governed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Treatments are evidence-based and in line with National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG), and British Menopause Society (BMS) recommendations.
As a local resident, Dr Shilpa set up the clinic to serve the Henley community, and it is at the heart of everything we do. Educating and empowering women of all ages is Dr Shilpa’s passion, and she gives her time freely to schools, workplaces, and charities, and often features in the media.
“Exceptional women’s healthcare, specialist knowledge, and community are my passions, and this is why Berkshire Menopause Clinic came to be. Patients asked for dedicated, expert support to guide them through perimenopause and menopause, and I knew I was well placed to deliver that, and more.”
Dr Shilpa began her medical career in hospital gynaecology, before moving into community gynaecology, and further qualifying as a women’s health GP. With over fifteen years’ experience in this field, she found growing numbers of women asking for dedicated perimenopause and menopause support, which inspired her to train to the highest qualification in advanced menopause practice and establish her own clinic.
“Living locally, I feel a real sense of pride at being able to offer a much-needed service to the community. I am devoted to providing the highest standard of care and being the local expert that women can get to know, and trust.”
With a background in gynaecology, Dr Shilpa is more than a menopause expert. She offers the highest level of expertise in all aspects of women’s health, providing care to those who have struggled to find solutions elsewhere, and women with complex medical backgrounds. Passionate about the NHS and all it stands for, Dr Shilpa continues to work as a women’s health GP and NHS community gynaecologist, alongside her work in the clinic.
Educating and empowering women of all ages with knowledge about their health is Dr Shilpa’s passion. She is the women’s health columnist for Henley Life magazine and the Henley Standard newspaper and regularly teaches in schools, having worked to incorporate menopause and gynaecology into the curriculum. And because community is at the heart of all she does, Dr Shilpa frequents as an expert speaker in workplaces and at medical seminars, as well as hosting menopause workshops for charities and organisations.
At Berkshire Menopause clinic, we not only treat women, but also empower them with knowledge and understanding about their condition and how to manage it. That’s why we have a comprehensive resources section containing leaflets, and blogs and articles.
