At Berkshire Menopause Clinic we support women, whatever their stage of life, or health concern. Whether it’s issues with periods, questions about contraception, or concerns about perimenopause and menopause, we’re here to help. We also treat women with complex health needs, those with a history of cancer, and those who have struggled to find solutions elsewhere. And we do all this in one clinic, with highly trained doctors, who take time to listen, explain, and understand.
“As a gynaecologist, women’s health GP, and accredited menopause specialist, I knew I was in a unique position – to be able to offer women, of all ages, a place to go for all their women’s health needs. A place where they felt calm, understood, and cared for. And, living locally, the only place I wanted my clinic to be, was in Henley-on-Thames, in the heart of the community.”
Dr Shilpa McQuillan, Clinic Founder
We provide a comprehensive range of women’s health services, including perimenopause and menopause treatment, gynaecology care, contraception, coil and implants, pessaries, women's health checks, cervical screening, breast examinations and blood tests.
Detailed initial assessments and treatment plans for the management of perimenopause and menopause, which are personalised and holistic. We offer nutrition and lifestyle advice, prescribed medications, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), testosterone, and vaginal treatments. All our treatment plans are bespoke, evidence-based, and in line with National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and British Menopause Society (BMS) recommendations. We only prescribe medications regulated and governed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Detailed initial assessments and treatment plans of gynaecological conditions, including Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), menstrual and bleeding disorders, pelvic pain, bladder and prolapse symptoms, vaginal and vulval conditions, and urogynaecology care including ring pessary fittings and exchange.
We provide contraceptive consultations and prescriptions.
If required, vaginal examinations and swab tests are offered as part of your detailed assessment.
Coil and implant fittings including hormone and copper coils for contraception, gynaecology issues, or as part of hormone replacement therapy. We treat women with complex conditions, and those who have experienced difficult or unsuccessful coil insertions.

Private cervical screening for HPV. We are able to offer this service to all women including those who, for whatever reason, have experienced difficult cervical screenings in the past.
A copy of the results can be sent to your GP so that your records remain up to date. If the test comes back positive, it can be sent for more detailed testing (as on the NHS). This comes with an additional charge but is only done if medically advised by the laboratory.

Breast checks are carried out by our specialist doctor who can also show you how to examine your own breasts. If any changes are found, with your consent, a letter can be sent to your GP who will refer you to an NHS breast team. Or, if you prefer to go privately, we can send this to breast team of your choice.

At Berkshire Menopause clinic we focus on putting patients first and that starts from the moment you first contact us. We understand that patients feel more relaxed and confident when they know what to expect and although everyone is treated as an individual and your treatment bespoke, the patient consultation journey follows a similar path.
This will be carried out in person, at our clinic in Henley-on-Thames.
We also offer video appointments if preferred.
During the consultation we will discuss your symptoms in detail and spend time discussing the benefits and risks of different treatment options, ensuring you have all the information you need to make informed choices. You will leave with a bespoke treatment plan, including any prescriptions. A summary of our conversation, and your plan, will be sent to you and to your GP, with your consent.
Blood tests are rarely used for diagnosis but are useful in some cases.
These can be done in clinic, if needed.
£245, 40mins
After three months, you will be offered a follow-up consultation, which can be done virtually, or, if you prefer, at our Henley-on-Thames clinic. Here we will discuss your progress and adjust your medication if necessary. If you have had blood tests, or other investigations, these will also be discussed. With your consent, we can send a summary of our consultation to your GP who may agree to continue your treatment on the NHS.
£195, 25mins
We recommend a consultation at least once a year, so that we can review progress and any ongoing prescriptions. Once your treatment has been optimised, and with your consent, we can send a summary of our consultation to your GP who may agree to
continue your treatment on the NHS.
£195, 25mins
We understand that you may have questions after you have had time to reflect on what we discuss in your appointment and that’s why we offer one free follow-up email per consultation, within six weeks of an initial consultation, or four weeks of a follow-up. Further correspondence will incur an administration fee. We will try and respond as soon as possible. Please allow 3 working days for a reply. We also have a FAQ and Resources page with detailed information about conditions and treatment.
£40
If you are booking a coil, implant or pessary fitting, cervical screening, breast check or other women’s health appointment, you do not need to have an initial consultation first. If you are a new patient, you may need an initial telephone consultation with our specialist to discuss all the necessary information required prior to the appointment-this fee will be included as part of that service price. A summary of the appointment, a copy of any results, and email advice if any results need actioning will be sent to you and to your GP, with your consent. You can find a full list of prices, along with details how to book these appointments here.
Ongoing repeat prescriptions can be issued outside of your consultations. An administration fee is payable directly to the clinic. You should pay the pharmacy for the cost of your medication when they contact you to arrange delivery. You'll find more information below.
£40
To order a repeat prescription, please email the clinic info@berkshiremenopauseclinic.com, providing your name, date of birth, the exact medication name, the dose you are taking, and the number of months you require. We will try and respond as soon as possible. Please allow 5 working days for your prescription to be sent to the pharmacy.
If we have your card details, we will charge your card the prescription fee and issue the prescription immediately. If we do not hold your card details, we will send you an invoice via email. Once this has been paid, we will issue your prescription.
Your prescription will be directly sent to our partnered online pharmacy, Pharmacierge. They will contact you directly to arrange a delivery to your address (normally within one week with no extra charge). If there are any issues or delays, please contact the pharmacy directly on 0207 631 1269.
Please read our Terms and Conditions before booking an appointment. In summary:
If you wish to cancel your appointment, you can do so at any time. Cancellation or rearrangement within working five days of your appointment will incur the full charge. Prior to this, you will be charged an administration fee of 1.8%. You will find more detail in our Terms and Conditions.
We believe in a holistic approach, and that patients should explore the options that best suit them. However, at Berkshire Menopause Clinic we do not prescribe or promote complementary (herbal) medicines as there are few studies which can confirm their safety, and as they are not regulated by a medicine authority, they are not subject to rigorous quality controls.
For the same reasons, we don’t prescribe bio-identical hormones. These are different to body-identical hormones which are evidence-based and recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence and the British Menopause Society.
We are not an emergency or urgent care service and do not offer urgent gynaecological investigations or treatment, emergency contraception, or terminations. If your medical issues are urgent, or you are worried they may escalate, you must contact your usual NHS provider.
