  • Perform an examination if necessary
  • Provide a written summary
  • Liaise with your NHS GP if you wish to continue treatment via the NHS
  • Recommend or refer you for further treatments or investigations (including surgery, if appropriate)

Can menopause affect vulval health?

Yes. Hormonal changes can lead to vulval and vaginal dryness, thinning and, vulval pain, low sex drive and increased susceptibility to infections. The group of different symptoms that occur around menopause are referred to genitourinary syndrome of the menopause (GSM)


Can I manage vulval or vaginal discomfort?

We provide personalised guidance based on your symptoms, including topical treatments, lubricants, lifestyle measures, and, when needed, medications for underlying skin conditions.  We recommend an in-person examination so we can understand your symptoms fully and suggest the most suitable, safe treatment for you. 


Can HRT be used for vaginal symptoms?

We can discuss all treatment options including over-the-counter measures and lifestyle support, but also is is widely known that prescription medications such as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and topical vaginal oestrogen can help treat menopause vaginal and bladder symptoms . Our goal is whole-person care that keeps you healthy and reduces recurrence.
