Breast exam — FAQs
Do I need a referral for a breast examination?
No referral is needed—you can book directly with us by phone or email.
I’ve had painful breasts – can you help?
Yes. Dr McQuillan, our lead specialist, has extensive experience supporting women who have found previous examinations uncomfortable or challenging. We’ll take the time to make the process as calm and comfortable as possible.
Are these appointments the same as a consultation?
No, breast examinations are focused tests and assessments. If you’d like to discuss your wider health, medical history, or symptoms in detail, we recommend booking a consultation alongside.
Where are these appointments carried out?
All appointments are in-person at our Henley-on-Thames clinic, in a calm and confidential setting.
What happens if my examination shows something of concern?
If your breast examination picks up any changes or concerns, we’ll talk everything through with you clearly and sensitively. We can provide a referral for private specialist care, or—if you prefer—write to your NHS GP so you can continue your care through the NHS. Whatever the next step, we’ll make sure you fully understand your options and feel supported throughout.
